North West Velo Fest : Begins ...

We gathered at the stroke of 6pm to launch day #1 of The Spokes week long bike festival. The lake was twinklingly reminiscent of dreamy Mediterranean waters as we were briefed as to how the evening's event would unfold, it was time for the Bicycle Lock Key Swapping Affair.

Saucy as it sounds, it was more about being seduced by new, fresh and tantalisingly tempting invitations from other people's bicycles. We'd throw our bike keys into a pot and pick out someone else's. Then came the flurry of anticipation and cheeriness as we discovered whose saddle we'd all be riding next ~ and then off we went into the sunset, getting acquainted with new bikes and new ace people who'd all come to join in on the fun. A few more swaps later and it was to the pub, which we came away from with a whole hoard of more ideas for some deliciously barmy bicycling antics.
