Spinning

Looking put of the kitchen window, I spot a golden brown object apparently suspended in midair. It’s one of those rare moments when the sun is shining, and on closer inspection, I see it’s a spider in the middle of its web which is swaying back and forth in the wind.

It’s not a day for macro photography, but I try to focus on my moving target.  Clearly tired of having a lens pointing at its web, it retreats to the vegetation above which gives me a better chance of a focused shot. Of course, the spider isn’t going to make things easy, largely hiding in the leaves, but there are sufficient opportunities where it peeps out of its temporary shelter, spinning threads for a return trip to its web - a miracle of nature.

But for this, the most exciting thing that happens is managing to get tickets for Macbeth with David Tennant and Cush Jumbo for when we’re down in London in November. I’d read about the production which has had fabulous reviews, but there didn’t seem a chance of tickets, so the news of a ‘ticket release’ was very welcome - though I balk at the top-price tickets of £250, opting instead for more moderately priced tickets at the back of the circle. London ticket prices are just crazy!

Apologies to anyone who’s an arachnophobe - I used to be, and still struggle with really large spiders - but it’s a spider blip today, with another view in extras. Better large if you can bear it!
