Lizard Takes Butterfly

A green anole lizard takes a gulf fritillary butterfly that had just emerged from its chrysalis on passion flower vines in our backyard. The spikey brown gulf caterpillars seen above and below the scene will soon make a chrysalis of their own. Sad, but so it goes in nature.
