Yes, another castle!

Today, being Friday 13th we cycled over the tidal causeway to Holy Island where the monks had first to put up with the Vikings and just when they had recovered themselves, along comes Henry 8th …. what could possibly go wrong?  {I'll just skip over pointless fallings out with Scotland, the 1640s civil war and the Jacobite rebellion}

Thankfully for us it all went well. The wind has dropped and the rain stayed away. Lindisfarne Castle is fascinating, a Tudor period castle turned into a country retreat by Ed Lutyens for Edward Hudson, the founder of Country Life.
Gertrude Jekyll re-arranged the garden.

Edit: I've reprocessed the image as I didn't like the way the iPhone software had done it, also added two extras of the upturned boat sheds overlooking the harbour.

This evening is a meal out! Posh fish and Chips in a very nice restaurant, apart from the C&W Muzak
