Central Station - we are off again

I’d arranged with #2 daughter to chat to the boys on WhatsApp at 7 last night. James answered. He had a couple friends round so introduced me to George and Hudson who live on his street. Thomas called Hi from the computer where he was playing a game with a friend, but James chatted for an hour. He’s so funny and entertaining. He said he wanted his bedroom painted as white was too bright to sleep in and maybe he could get darker curtains as his foxy and orange days were over. He’d like a Star Wars bean bag for his birthday as he could use his fox one and a friend could have the new one. Also bunk beds would be good for having friends to stay. Then he asked us to show him the view from our window as he thinks we are so lucky to have such a view and not just houses opposite. His mum was out walking the dog so at 8 he walked Hudson home and his mum appeared soon after, looking for her phone. Once home Thomas spoke and showed us his scrapes on his leg from falling out of a tree. He’s lucked out as someone pulled out of a school arts trip to London so he’s getting to go. They go to two shows, Tate Modern, and Harry Potter studios. Nathaniel would have loved it.

Today we left the car with #3 daughter and got the metro to the station. The train was so crowded that we had to heft our bags onto the rack above. Obviously we don’t look our age as none of the young people sitting nearby offered to help. I’m reading Broken Threads by Mishal Husain. It is interesting how she weaves her family history through British and Indian history.

After Kings Cross it was an hour on the Piccadilly line to T5. From there we got a 423 bus to our Premier Inn. Our bus pass on it saved £14 compared with the Hoppa hotel bus. We only had to wait 15 minutes and in less than 10 we were at the hotel. We checked in and had some food before an early night for an early start tomorrow. Let’s hope the bus adheres to its timetable.
