The challenge

Years ago I was offered a lilac bush. I didn't realise how vigorously they grow, or should have researched it at the time; I hadn't kept it curtailed, so the roots got out of control. Thankfully, Michael to the rescue. After cutting it back, he managed (with a lot of hard work) to get it to the stage he could drag the remainder out of the flowerbed. There are still lilac tree roots amongst my redcurrant bushes, a challenge for another day!
