Flaming Torch Bromeliad

One of the more unusual flowers that grows in our front yard! This is a Bromeliad, commonly called Flaming Torch. What an aptly named plant! It's native to South America and parts of the Caribbean, so no wonder it does well here on the SW Coast of Florida. 

The red petals remind me of ribbon candy, a special treat at Christmas when I was a girl. Thanks muchly to Anni, BikerBear for this Flower Fun on Fridays!
