In and out, up and down

There was a smidgeon of reluctance to get out of bed at 6.38, being 2 deg outside, but I am really relishing being able to have the space to do back stroke most of the time. The splashy men in the fast lane have disappeared and the pool is quieter. Today it was just over 1 km in 45 mins.

Next was feeding cats, here and down at the flat. Home for a morning/early afternoon of moaning and meetings. As I said later, why does someone keep putting out the light at the end of the tunnel?

Though the sun had disappeared behind clouds it was still pleasant enough for a brisk walk up to Mortonhall. I was early so had a wee wander, plenty squirrels. There with L, J and MM for Mary from Choir's funeral.  She was such a livewire, always smiling, and always with interesting clothes. Quite a few folk channelled her fashion choices I'm glad to say. She would have been 75 in 3 months and it was standing room only in the Main Chapel. She'd planned the ceremony with the priest from St Mary's and her nephew and it was beautiful. No singing but lovely music, including the Ashokan Farewell.

J kept bumping into folk she knew and then as I was chatting to MM L from Crisis came up. I saw her for the first time in 5+ years at the Book Festival and here she was again, best friend of Mary's daughter and known her for 45 years. Small world indeed.

A brisk walk home and then another light extinguished as we are down to 1 for Wednesday. That meant 3 phone calls. I walk up and down when I'm on the phone.

Down to Margiotta (where the Ashokan Farewell was on the radio) and back via more cat feeding, dinner for D and B. After my dinner, and too much Bombay mix, I moved to the front room to watch WDYTYA, and fell asleep. No wonder. Gave in, filled the HWB and went to bed.
