The change in the weather has been, to say the least, brusque. I have gradually been getting up later from 5:00 to 5:30 to 5:45. And today got up at six. The very first light was coming over Monte Penna and when I stuck my nose out the door I feared we might be in for a tomato-melon-squash- cucumber-aubergine-pepper- bean killing frost. The precipitate plunge in the temperature stopped at 4.8C.
I don’t remember such a dramatic change from t-shirt weather to three-layer weather. Temperatures look like rallying to the low 20s but the stultifying heat since July has gone for this year (it seems). Hopefully the garden delicates will rally too.
Next up on the weather front is a forecast extreme rain event in Austria and eastwards. Windy.com is forecasting a max of 36cm of rain in the next 72 hours (14 inches in old money).
