Brainwave! Stop advertising my Whitworth and AF spanners on Freegle, where even people who claim to be vehicle mechanics don't know that they are only for vehicles 50+ years old, and give them to the 50-year-old father-and son motorbike repair shop in the back street round the corner from me. Dave, who used to service my Yamaha bike, was wary at first and said he couldn't pay me for them but once he understood that I just wanted him to pass them on to a biker who'd use them, all was smiles and we had a good chat. He's 86 and still rides but not, he admitted, as well as he used to. He was almost as nostalgic for my long-gone BSA Bantam as I am.

The three-hander play this evening was execrable. Not sure I've ever had reason to use that word before - it was probably the worst 'play' I have ever seen. It was allegedly about cancel culture but only a small part of it touched on that. It flung references to race, class, gender, sex, sexuality, (dis)ability, identity etc into a huge leaky pot, stirred and hauled out gobbets at random. At various points we were asked to use our phones to vote but the absurd multiple choices reinforced 'isms', did not include 'none of the above' and did not affect the action. Afterwards, Secondborn and I met the (excellent) actor we knew, as he'd requested, and I think he was actually reassured that we thought it was awful.
