A bit like myself. Ha! Ha!
I've just watched a BBC documentary about the massive Singer sewing machine factory in Clydebank. In 1911 female workers went on strike for equal pay. I'm not sure they got it, but it encouraged their employer to become more paternalistic. The factory became a huge part of the local community, but was raised to dust in 1980, including the iconic Singer Clock Tower. The local railway station was and still is, called Singer. If you want to find out more, click on the link.
