Buí
What a very enjoyable day - I have been pampered! Finola whisked me off to Skibbereen for a birthday breakfast - French toast plus candle! En route we were serenaded by an uillieann pipe player who was just back from four days in Spain and his pipes were having trouble adjusting to the damp Irish climate having spent a few days in 30c!. Then we had a mooch around the Saturday market which is always very sociable, before heading down to Cnoc Buí art gallery in Union Hall. An excellent exhibition from a private collection of 80 woks by 50 Irish artists from the early 1900s upwards - what we really liked were the number of women artists represented, women who were often over-shadowed by more famous husbands yet were actually pretty impressive in their own right..
I also just loved the little field of sunflowers next to the gallery - Buí (pronounced bwee) means yellow which seems very suitable.
We then managed another coffee in the delightful Nolan's coffee shop - also yellow.
Extras will be disappearing shortly,
And it has to be!
