Zentangle Mosaic
One of our branch libraries offered a free Zentangle workshop this morning. Zentangle is a form of meditative drawing, using repeating patterns to create pleasing designs. Although I’ve been doing this for years, I’ve never tangled with others, and I was eager to see how that would work with nearly two dozen people, some who’d never tried this art form before, and several who’d done it before. The instructor was good at keeping things moving—she has years of teaching experience: in assisted living facilities, community college classes, and private lessons. The instructions were to divide the paper with a vague Z-shape, and then fill in each of the sections with the four basic patterns she demonstrated. Look carefully at the photo to see all the subtle interpretations of this idea. I will be going back for the next session in a few weeks.
