yet another Mr and Mrs Majestic

This good looking couple lives on Prospect Avenue, just up the street from me and around the corner from their friends, of the same name.

Like their friends, this Mr and Mrs Majestic moved into the neighborhood almost 80 years ago when it was a sleepy little beach town. In those days their beach, because it is a south facing beach, had the best surfing for miles around, and the town was a popular summer retreat for Angelenos.

WWII brought a US Army Corps of Engineer-built break water. That made the local harbor a great haven for ocean-going ships of all kinds... but obliterated the surf.

Today the beach is still there, but so is the break water... and the surfers have moved on to better scenes.

Talking to the few old-timers still here (perhaps as old as this handsome couple) can give us newbies an idea of how good the old times were.
