Ullapool in a much admired Shetland jumper
Rather than returning straight home to Edinburgh after our week at the cottage, we have headed further north for an extra couple of days of holiday.
We broke our journey twice on the way to our hotel. Our first stop was Corrieshalloch Gorge to admire the amazing waterfalls. Then in Ullapool we took tea/coffee and cake at Tea by the sea, made our regular pilgrimage to Highland Stoneware (no purchases, but great chat with the staff), and called into a couple of art shops and the charity shop (where I bought a tiny millefiori paperweight for £4).
The spicy fish soup with crusty bread on the Sea Shack's blackboard menu tempted us to stay in Ullapool for lunch. Not long after we started chatting to the couple at our shared dining table, we discovered that the husband once lived five doors away from Mr hazelh's father in Nottingham!
We are now being very well looked after at the Eddrachilles Hotel near Scourie. Somehow Mr hazelh seems to have had all the luck in our Scrabble games before dinner...
I blipped Mr hazelh on the seafront at Ullapool. He is wearing the lovely jumper that I bought in the Bethany shop on 31st July. I am not the only one who thinks that it looks great. The postmistress in Laide also admired it last week. (I'm not too sure about luminous trainers, however...)
Exercise today: walking (10,930 steps).
