Young Blackbird resting

It was early, 0800, this morning that I was going out to put some food waste into the compost bin. I saw the young blackbird lying on the grass, thought it was a big leaf at first.
It didn't move until I was quite close, and then I followed it up the steps to where the compost bin is, and thought it might have stopped to look at me. It did just that, but as I got onto the top step it scuttled off into the undergrowth.
Nice to see them in the garden, don't know where they are nesting this year but our trees, and the very tall Laurel at the back, are quite overgrown now. Must get them sorted out during the winter - which appears to be not too far away!
