Bargello waves quilt
Bargello is a type of quilt construction that I had never heard of….you can do either waves, as here, or two other varieties using 1O colours. This is the quilt I made on a course on Thursday, very tricky sewing the very narrow strips. Today I did a bit of tidying and ironing it and now I need to do a border, a backing and then quilt it! That will not be happening in a hurry.
As it’s very bright I think it will have to be a hanging in the children’s bedroom. I made things difficult for myself by having plain colours as all the seams have to be so straight. something with a pattern would have been more forgiving so I may try another quilt with patterned fabric of a colour scheme to go on our stairs for display.
Today our elderly next door neighbour ( nearly 90) had a lunch party for about 25 people. Luckily the weather was good so we could be outside. He had very good caterers who made lots of lovely savoury bites to pass around and a couple of small desserts too. Plus lots of wine and champagne! He held it today as it’s Battle of Britain Day and he was in the RAF……but not during WW2 although he does remember it as a six year old! His three children who we know quite well came along so nice to see them as they don’t live near any more.
