NHSBT Conference
I had been asked to attend the first NHSBT conference along with one of my managers, Hannah. We met at Piccadilly yesterday and travelled to Bristol. We stayed last night in the hotel and today it was the conference.
All the bigwigs were there and representatives from all departments of NHSBT. We started with an ice breaker…telling a story in 6 words. It could be about your job or your personal life. No one said anything on my table so I said I’d start…Life’s better now, out of prison. There was a moment lol, they were a good group on my table and it made them laugh. I then said my real one…Outside comfort zone, fifty fun activities.
The main activity of the day was to come up with something that could be implemented for over the next ten years. We started tables, then five tables joined up and then we all voted on what we wanted. Each group actually came up with a variant of the same idea….basically the opportunity for all to ‘walk in the shoes’ of anyone across the company. It would be discussed during our PDPR. We already have opportunities in Manchester to do this, but lots of other areas don’t.
I really enjoyed the day and there were a few people I knew there. We then caught the train home. Three hours back with a diversion after Crewe as there had been an incident. I am now shattered.
