Rose Bowl
Thank you for all the good wishes on our Kiltwalk efforts yesterday. It went well and we have raised a decent amount of money. The only negative was the car acquiring a screw in one of the rear tyres. It's currently in the garage being fitted with a new one. A tyre that is and at considerable cost.
My sister and I took the train to Edinburgh. Our uncle took us out for lunch and we sat outside in lovely warm (hot) sun.
This silver rose bowl comes from the North Leith Parish Church with which our uncle has been involved for years. Not in a religious sense but looking after some of the artefacts. In 1840 this bowl was presented to the church in memory of the many sailors who worshiped there. It isn't solid silver with the interior having a copper coating. It therefore doesn't have a hallmark. When the churches of North and South Leith amalgamated our uncle asked if he could purchase some of the church silverware. The rose bowl is now his and he has plans for how it will be displayed in his house.
It's not a great photo as the light was so bright and there are numerous reflections but it's a good story.
