Day 260/24. Scottish Wildcat.

A Scottish Wildcat enjoying the sun in the New Forest Wildlife Park today. Very close to the domestic cat.
It is likely that there are few pure individuals left, since all wild individuals sampled in recent years showed high levels of hybridisation with domestic and feral cats. So the Scottish population is thought to be functionally extinct in the wild.
