Back in the freezer
This photo of the most powerfully-scented viburnum in the district against the blue sky doesn't begin to describe how cold it is today.
There is a south-westerly wind blasting up from the Antarctic, dropping the temperatures to near freezing in its chill. Unfortunately - or fortunately depending on your point of view - Chez Mima is very sheltered and relatively balmy.
For this reason I ventured out for our morning walk in spring clothes, instead of the winter ones which I needed. As a consequence it was a Brisk Walk.
Soon after I took this photo, and had sunk my nose into the beautiful blooms, we turned into S & N's property. Within a split second Bean was haring off after the pair of hares which had been loafing on the drive until we disturbed them. What japes.
They ran off in different directions which momentarily confused Bean. She glanced over her shoulder at me for guidance, but before I could suggest anything she decided the smaller hare was more catchable...and she was off like the wind.
I carried on walking because it wasn't a day to hang about. A few minutes later I was joined by my waggy, wiggly, panting dog; very pleased with herself. As usual the hare got away.
It's an early Blip: I am off to town for the afternoon to see Nicola my magical Physio amongst other things.
Life seems to be settling into a peaceful and uneventful period, for which I am grateful. After the emotional ups and downs of the last few weeks it feels wonderful to be passing the days with much less on my mind and plenty of activity to keep my body occupied.
And spring returns tomorrow when this southerly pulse disappears off into the Pacific. Bring it on.
