Sally Mair - Loving life

By Sallymair

My big girl!

I felt very blessed to see the sunshine this morning. It was a holiday in Edinburgh today so my big girl and I were heading off with her two big girls for Loch Leven! We had picnic stuff, head torches and a change of shoes and socks!
The trip across the Loch in the Mary Seton was lovely, so many mute and whooper swans. Spotted several heron, some in flight and some tufted ducks.
The girls loved exploring the castle and its surrounds and we stayed for extra time on the island allowing the first boat to go back without us. The sun was lovely and warm and I spent half an hour while they ran around sitting on a bench reading my kindle.
We headed back at around 2.30 and went to Loch Leven Larder for an ice-cream for the girls and a coffee for Katy and I.
The drive home was smooth and the sun still shining as we went over the bridge. The temperature reminds us it's not the height of summer but we had a beautiful September day out.
Watched the quizzes this evening and I was astounded to find that I recognised all three members of one Only Connect team from their being on University Challenge in the past - in separate teams and years. The human brain is quite remarkable as it wasn't mentioned on the show
