The Mani

We took the ferry from Kythera to Neapoli which is on the southern tip of the Peloponnese and had a splendid (if long, hot and at times scary) journey over the narrow winding roads along the coast and over the mountains of the Mani peninsula. The photograph is the view west towards Areopoli after which we travelled through some wonderful Mani villages charecterised by their stone buildings with towers - a reminder of their far from peaceful past! We travelled north through Stoupa and Kardamyli to our destination Kalamati where we will be staying with J's family for the week.
