A Miniature Achivament
For today's image I realised I'd gone for an automative theme for my blip on consecutive days.
This miniature model is of a Chiva bus which my sister bought back from her travels. A Chiva (Spanish for goat) or Escalera (Spanish for ladder and stairs) is an artisan rustic bus used in rural areas in countries such as Colombia, Venezuela and Ecuador (oddly none of the countries my sister actually went to so I'm not sure where she actually got it from!). Chivas are adapted to rural public transport, especially considering the mountainous geography of the Andean region.
The buses are varied and characterised by being painted colourfully - sometimes in the colours of the flags or their respective countries or with local arabesques and figures, with most having a ladder to the rack on the roof which is also used for carrying people, livestock and merchandise.
They are built upon a bus chassis with a modified body made out of either metal or wood. Seats are bench-like, made out of wood and with doors instead of windows.
I couldn't quite furnish my image with a depiction of a mountainous backdrop so instead I just assembled as many colourful items found in and around our kitchen worktop as I could.
