Kendal Castle. Quite a steep climb but well worth it for the view, and for defensive reasons, obviously. Not a lot of it remaining which isn't surprising as it was built in the 1400s, but there were good information boards and it was interesting to explore. 
It was another lovely sunny day. We spent the afternoon reading and knitting and Lottie lay in the shade, resting! Later Lottie and I walked along a little pathway along the river towards the town. Lots of rose hips and hawthorn berries.
