The in between Starling

This has to be the Starling equivalent of the Ugly Duckling? It still has it's 'dusky' Brown chick plumage but in the Morning light you can just see the Flourescent adult feathers starting to show through?
They have been saying about the reduction of the Starling population.But I think this year has been a 'Bumper ' season for them.We have had I would say,several hundred Chicks in our neibourhood ?
