Wound up in Wexford

Hedge cutting

Two consecutive days of sunshine - that has to be a record!

The hedge has gone.  We've gained nearly 2 metres of land along the back of our garden, two golf balls, a huge pile of chipped wood, and a goodly number of tinfoil meat trays.*

We realised that we do not need to replace the hedge along the back border of the garden - there are plenty of trees on the ditch** - we just need to add (and care for during their early days when competition for water will be fierce) a few infilling plants such as hawthorn.

W has dug holes to "plant" the polytunnel structure.  And I shortened two pairs of jeans.

* This is not the first time we've found these - our vendors had a dog, and we think he was given these, and then they've been blown into the hedge.

** The ditch is the local name for the mound created when clearing a field - a mixture of stones and soil, now with many trees growing on it.  It is in fact the accepted boundary, (not the wire fence this side of it) and the trees growing on it may or may not be our responsibility - that's potentially contentious!
