Gardening leave
I’d love to say i planned an amazing purple clash in this bed but as always with most of my gardening it is ‘sauve qui peut’ and what survives goes on to thrive. I love this huge blousy dahlia that I am glad I put in here rather than in the cutting beds. It is called Thomas A Edison, named for the lightbulb inventor and it really shines. I haven’t picked any this year and I am going to leave it to overwinter, nicely mulched and hope it comes back. The ones I have overwintered have done extremely well. It lifts my heart to see it and if we are spared the frosts (near miss last Thursday) there are loads more buds on it.
Day 1 of gardening leave and as it was a Monday it didn’t feel too peculiar. Lots of mopping up work to do on the show, the figures are good (for the modern era - I’d have been sacked for them 10 years ago) and the iplayer pick up is also good. That will be the real test.
The weather is perking up and the light is autumn lovely.
V and I watched ep 2 go out (he hadn’t seen it) and I enjoyed a flurry of texts from friends who were watching too. Ultimately i freaked out and went to bed early with a fashion magazine.
