The excitement of travel

Today’s highlight should have been a boat trip with spectacular Mountain Views. And we did have that but that became such a small part of the day!
It started with the bumpy journey up towards the Komani ferry on a very rough road. Our friends suffered a puncture and although managed a quick change to the spare wheel, felt they needed to head back down to Shkodër for a replacement. They would try again to the ferry tomorrow. We headed on to the port - a tiny place, packed with cars and people, and the toughest bit of loading area. We were last to load on to the ferry - a tricky reverse, which eventually the ferry man did for us. Stress levels VERY high for all!! We calmed down a bit on the 2 hour boat ride but then anxiety rose as we approached the final port. With a low water level the disembarkation point was a tricky, very steep gravel track on to a steep concrete road. We were first off - MrKTand our van did a brilliant job making it out in one go. Phew.Not so lucky were some other vehicles with the final motor home getting stuck and being winched up the track.
At this point we messaged our friends and told them not to come on the ferry tomorrow - their low slung VW camper would have had a very painful time.
So although stressful at the time - we survived, and have a good story to tell!
