In Goes The Salt
When the wound is reopened
and in goes the salt
you find yourself thinking
‘Was it really my fault
that things developed
quite as they did?’
Then you recall the worms
the can and the lid.
But the past is the past
so what good does it do
to question who’s guilty:
‘Maybe me? Perhaps you?’
Yet you find yourself asking
‘Was it really my fault?’
when the wound is reopened
and in goes the salt.
