Late Afternoon Car Reflections, Aylesford
Today's user manual tutorial was all about image recording options and autofocus area modes. As my camera is now a full frame model (FX) to get the best out of my D750 I should use matching FX lenses. However, I've now learnt that I can use my existing DX lenses with my camera but that it if I do it changes the image size in raw and jpeg. To visually represent this I can activate the DX image size in my viewfinder and it will give me an accurate idea as to the limits of the images it can record. Very clever!
With AF Area modes I'm now conversant with 3D tracking, group area AF and auto-area AF along with the other usual suspects. In the next few days I'm going to experiment with them all and see how I go. Today's image, of course, didn't use any of this but I just loved the colours, foliage and reflections in these car windows in a neighbour's driveway!
A bonus of having more time on my hands is being able to make meals during the day rather than having to come home from work and then have to cook. Today I made mini hot smoked salmon frittatas and my brother made a chicory and radish salad with lemon, wholegrain mustard and toasted sesame oil (which is totally delicious) to go with them. To finish the dish off we'll have some new potatoes with a Lebanese seven-spice style blend.
