Painterly petals

Today I had a little photoshoot with the remaining nigella flowers still lingering in the garden. They are one of my favourites, pretty and delicate flowers with wonderful lace-like wispy foliage.  

I used my macro lens and 'proper' camera to try to do them justice.  I loved taking the full flower-head (as in the extra image) but what I really liked was capturing the texture and pattern in the tiny petals that looked almost painterly.
