Wednesday

What a beautiful late summer’s day. A slight easterly drift greeted us for our early morning walk, making eyes and noses run.
We drove across the edge of Dartmoor on route to see my godmother (auntie Joan), aunties twin sister. The countryside is still hanging on to its summer clothes and glorious they are.
After hugs, kisses and Dippy’s own version of saying hello (lots of love and tail wagging whilst licking the victims face) we sat down with a cuppa and a biscuit.
A group decision to stroll around the park in the glorious sunshine was made, at 89 years of age I was impressed with how steady auntie was on her feet.
Dippy entertained everyone with his antics in and out of the stream bordering the lovely park. We all sat on aunties favourite park bench and enjoyed the beautiful atmosphere of birdsong, flowing water and warm sunshine before heading back to Bovey for lunch in a lovely little cafe. Dippy was on best behaviour and curled up under the table. Auntie enjoyed her creamy carrot soup whilst we chose ham and Stilton ploughman’s.
Unable to resist a cream tea we were soon out of time and were headed back home across the edge of the moor, still bathed in warm sunshine.
We went our separate ways back in town and I popped in to see good friend Margaret who had looked after my belongings for me earlier this year. A cup of fruit tea and a biscuit or two in her delightful garden while Dippy hunted for the cats who fled when he arrived. After a couple of tasks including weeding her front garden steps and demolishing a rotten set of garden furniture I headed to the coop for some essential items before heading back home.
I greeted some campers and helped them with their tent whilst their little terrier taunted Dippy and tore around the orchard at mach two!
Three pigs were enticed back into their pen after truffling up the field. The pack of dogs had a charge about before darkness fell.
Another wonderful day enjoyed, thank the Lord.
