Time to travel home!
A bad night - we understood why it is called the airport hotel. A good 10 mins by car along motorways to get there, but the first night we had not been disturbed by aircraft landing/taking off! Last night we were! I expect it changes according to the wind. A fabulous breakfast as usual, then quickly got ready for the shuttle to the airport! A charming guy who spoke English and knew so much about the area..
Apparently the night we arrived a man decided to cross the motorway to get to his hotel.
'Club pay tribute to lifelong supporter killed in the early hours of Tuesday near Milan Bergamo airport after being hit by an SUV as he attempted to reach his hotel' (The Times)
The driver was telling us about it. Possibly hearsay but it sounded awful!
Our Hotel is great but you do have to have a car of some sort. A very expensive Taxi the first night, the shuttle twice and an uber yesterday!
Through security remarkably fast! Then a wait in the airport - not very long. Ryan air gives no frills but they get there pretty fast. Unfortunately I was not sitting by a window so no shots there. The above was taken in the hotel just before we left. They have a big space for entertaining yourself: Bar, table with games (we played ludo last night much to the amusement of the locals!) and this rather large bookcase with books you can swap or simply borrow - I loved the quotations in various languages! The French one was: "Je m'abandonne à l'adorable allure: lire, vivre où ménent les mots." P. Valery (I surrender to the wonderful speed: reading, living where the words lead)
The Italian one: «El mundo es un libro, y quienes no viajan leen sólo una página» s. Ugostino (The world is a book and those who don't travel only read a page.)
The rest of the journey went smoothly - through security at the English end in no time! and straight out. Slept on the plane and on the train to Bolton then stopped in the Olympus for a late lunch and slept on the bus home! I'm having trouble keeping awake!!
It's been a great mini break! Love Italy and the Italians met along the way. Must learn the lingo!
