Carol's ramblings

More touristy stuff

This morning we had planned to go to Mablethorpe beach, have fish and chips and possibly paddle in the sea.  On waking, very cloudy sky and a little chilly.

After a good breakfast made our way to the beach (just over an hours journey).  When we arrived, very blowy, chilly and still very overcast.  Walked along the promenade, stopped for coffee - hubby went back to get our coats as it was so cold!  Watched gathering geese coming in to land on the boating lake.

Decided to go to Gunby Hall, NT info:
Nestled below the Lincolnshire wolds, this sweeping estate secludes a charming country house flanked by Victorian walled gardens.  Built in 1700 for the quietly influential Massingberd family, the house features intimate rooms with homely décor and artistic works by notable names.  Meander gardens with striking seasonal colour, creative borders, and picture-perfect lawns. Estate walks offer refreshing scenic views of the flatlands.

Lovely place, lots of history/info, very pretty colourful gardens (flowers and veg) - see extras.

This evening, visited my friends WI in Lincoln - guest speaker, Vicki Reed, 3rd place finalist of 2023 sewing bee.  Very interesting talk on her way into sewing, her creative passion and life on the sewing bee (another extra).
