Ormesby Hall
National trust property. It is a beautiful house and gardens. The staff were very informative. The lower right picture shows a broken pediment. That means the servants were not allowed to go through. There was a hidden door near this - they called it a jib door- that was used by the servants that accessed a back corridor. If the top of the door was complete, through the door was not private and servants were allowed to go through freely. I love a bit of decorative plasterwork and this house has loads of it. The picture of the child aged about 7 is wearing a dress but it is a boy! This was common until a boy was "breeched" and allowed to wear trousers. There is a large model railway there and also a smaller one for kids with Thomas the tank engine and friends.
