Restful day
A wander along to the Roman bath house this morning. Not a lot of it remaining, but it was part of a much larger settlement, a port which brought in supplies for the Roman army in these parts. Last time we were here, six years ago, there were a team of archaeologists digging round about. It's like being in Orkney and knowing there are remains all around you, if you knew where to look. Makes you want to know more.
From the remains, we followed a footpath down onto the shore and the tide was rising, but we managed to get round to the slipway and into the village before the path was completely covered. Time for another sit outside the pub with a drink in hand, to watch the sea and enjoy the sun. A bit of a breeze today, but still sunny and warm.
In the afternoon Mike wandered down to the railway museum and Lottie and I stayed here and rested!
