Silverdale
There has been no more perfect day for cycling all summer. Perfect temperature. Perfect visibility. No wind. After a morning of meetings to let the mist clear and the thermometer rise, I headed out on the new bike this afternoon for its first long outing. The electronic shifting is a revelation, especially out of the saddle on the hills. The only problem is that she demands to be ridden faster than my fitness levels are properly capable. I seemed to be up the top of Malham Cove before I knew it Silverdale was a blast too. It was only in the last third of the ride when I started to feel the power disappear ... as well as any comfort in the saddle. I arrived back home very sore and generally jiggered. Hopefully, by next summer both legs and backside will be sorted!
