Streets
We were up and into town a bit earlier this morning…with some welcome bright sunshine and warm again. We stopped at Pasticceria Eugenia for some coffee and a pastry first, then some of the streets clicked together in my head and I quickly found our way to the clock tower square and on into the Piazza delle Erbe market. We managed to find some of the green and brown jujube fruit and which someone on YouTube said were tastier than the more common fully brown ones we’ve been seeing recently (spoiler alert, not great! They were like tasteless small apples, not date-like at all despite their other name being red dates).
We wandered around trying to find something for F’s new baby born last week but no luck…all the fancy baby clothes here have little phrases in English or French written on them rather than Italian. We did both find some earrings and I got a little bracelet too, so that was good. Then we picked up a rare beef and aubergine crusty sandwich to share for lunch and headed home to eat it before I had to settle in to two zoom calls, one for each of two organisations, which took up the whole afternoon. Not sure I said much of any use, but it was good to hear what was being discussed and ask the odd question.
K had been to the supermarket, and so instead of going out we had fresh tomato sauce with linguine then salad and finished with some chocolate whilst we watched some more of The Bear…definitely more into it now. A low key day, but good to feel we’re getting to know the place and find our way round
