The start of the Spanish holiday
The holiday began with complications. I had booked the airport hotel for the wrong nights and they were full! I had a taxi ride to another hotel but the computer was down and my (new) booking did not show….for a while!
I was awake at 0315 today and ready for the taxi at 0400. Newcastle airport was heaving and very noisy. There were 2 flights off to Alicante and other exotic places.
My flight to Schipol was delayed, making the 50 minute transfer time shrink. I was on my feet and off the plane like a shot. I just made it to the next plane. (Passport control was a nightmare post Brexit, grr.)
It was only then that I realised I had left my beloved iPad on the first plane.
Real stomach churning stuff.
Find My application showed it at Schipol all day. I reported it to KLM, no mean feat. This evening, the iPad moved to a residential address in Amsterdam.
I can’t file a report with the Dutch police unless I am in Holland. I have to file a report with Spanish police. Now that will be fun.
On the positive front, I visited the Guggenheim Museum. It is amazing. My main blip is from the main atrium looking up. Sadly there are no figures to indicate scale*. My first extra does have figures if you look hard as does the second.
My Airbnb is brilliant. It’s on the seventh floor of an old apartment block and is Tardis like.
My hostess, Claudia, had to book a table for me because none of the restaurants I tried by phone had English speakers on the staff. I ate at a nearby place where hardly a word of English was spoken and Google translate was handy!
What an adventure! I was really too tired before I started.
I have now potted a tiny human figure in the main blip.
