Guy Chambers

Been to see Guy Chambers tonight.

Who?

Well, take Robbie Williams out of Robbie Williams and you're left with the bloke who wrote the music.

An evening of chat, arrangements of songs on the piano, some music theory, some insight into what influenced what, and how this was borrowed from that.

Then an impromptu song writing session with an audience member, and another who volunteered to sing Angels.

But my association with Guy starts in 1990 when he was in World Party with Karl Wallinger. I had a pint with him in the students union in Newcastle before the gig. He won't remember, and he's another who no longer drinks.....

Then came The Lemontrees which remain one of my favourite bands and Open Book a banger of an album. You can't find it on Spotify as the record company deleted it, so Guy has rerecorded most of the songs for a new album called Burst the Bubble. Have a listen.

Had a quick chat at the end, and said one of my favourite gigs is still 1992 when The Lemontrees toured as support for Jellyfish, he said it was one of his favourite tours. Shame they never got the success they deserved.
