Sun and shade

Early in the morning, our shade garden gets a short burst of direct sunlight which today illuminated a Cordyline rubra. They are commonly called 'palm lily' although, as far as I can see, they are neither a palm nor a lily. This species is native to our area and widely grown as a garden plant for its brightly coloured leaves.
