Me And My Shadow
We were out early this morning for a longer run but sadly any late summer sun was entirely absent and it was unremittingly grey day but we enjoyed being out in the fresh air nonetheless and still felt energised afterwards.
The weather didn't improve later so we just headed back to a new watering hole - coincidentally called The Wateringbury (named after its village location) - for a quick pint. It's only just re-opened after an extensive makeover and they really have done a fantastic job on it. It has a lovely little garden out the back of the building which a perfect spot for pint supping - unfortunately due to today's weather that was not an option but it was just as welcoming inside.
Right next door to the pub is a series of paddocks which usually have glorious views across to the valley and the hills beyond but today it was almost completely obscured by mist and low cloud. By the time we had taken a short stroll there it had started to pour down and I just had to grab this quick shot of these two horses - the black horse in the background emerging from the behind the white one almost like a shadow - before making a dash for the car.
The rest of the day was just spent catching up on some telly - particularly another wonderful episode of Who Do You Think Your Are?, which in this occasion delved into the family history of the deaf actress Rose Ayling-Eliis. Utterly fascinating.
