Rutting season

Just like we did in previous years, Peter and I went to National Park de Hoge Veluwe to witness the rutting season of the red deer.
And just like last years it was crowded. Hundreds of photographers were already lined up on the Wildbaan when we arrived, rather late, around 17:30.
The best spots were probably already taken around noon.

So, we left the Wildbaan after a while and went on to a more quiet place near the Reemsterveld. The deer are much further away here, but the crowds are much less and the light is much better. And because I'm not searching for closeup portrait, this location suits me best.
Although at moments like this I wished I had a 600mm lens instead of my 400mm.

We had a great afternoon. Our visit was short. We left home around 15:00 and went back after a nice dinner around 21:00, but that's OK.
I dropped Peter off at 22:40.
