Blooming wonderful

Just a week ago - on 13 July - I showed a single stem of lily buds in the garden waiting to open. With the continuing heat there has been a burst of activity and the flower stalk, from a single bulb, is blooming away, filling the still air with a heady perfume. It was lovely winding down after work with the sounds from the TV indoors of the crowds ooing and aaahing at some of the closing rounds of today's Open.

More flowers have yet to open. But I've counted 40+ flowers on the single stalk. Talk about value for money!
