Looking for a fort
And finding 2CVs.
Years after owning a Hillman Imp the deux cheveaux became the car to have when living in the middle of nowhere in Cumbria. Over time we had two cars and a left hand drive Diane van, John imported this from Belgium, a fun experience.
They did us well and reasonably easy to drive in a few inches of snow, narrow wheels. The roof rolled back and the front seats are easy to remove when out for a picnic.
To come across these vehicles today kept us smiling and inside the van are thousands of little plastic ducks - no idea. Onto Fort Vechten, originally Roman with later fort developed nearby in 1867 becoming part of the New Dutch Waterline. A very hot day, it was a pleasure to go into a supermarket looking for easy food for tomorrow when we make a start on the next stage of the holiday the overnight ferry to Newcastle and onto Durham on Monday morning.
