Downham Market
Needed somewhere else to explore today as I have pretty much cleared the caches in Cambridge. Decided that Downham Market looked like the best option as I could get there by train and there were more than enough caches to spend a good portion of the day there.
Things didn't start off too well as as soon as I had bought my train ticket I noticed the train was cancelled and a replacement bus service was scheduled. I didn't have other plans so I just accepted it. It didn't matter as I still made the connection.
The town centre is very old then lots of suburban growth. On May Day 1646, King Charles I hid in an Inn in the town. He was disguised as a clergyman attempting to evade capture by Parliamentary forces after the battle of Naseby.
