Inside And Outside
On This Day In History
1862: President Lincoln issues the Preliminary Emancipation Proclamation
Quote Of The Day
"That on the first day of January in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-three, all persons held as slaves within any State, or designated as part of a State, the people whereof shall then be in rebellion against the United States shall be then, thenceforward, and forever free."
(Abraham Lincoln, Preliminary Emancipation Proclamation )
The second day of our weekend prpfessional development course on Restorative Practice: Building A Best Practice Model Of Behaviour Management was as interesting and enjoyable as the first day. The main photo shows two of the three awesome colleagues who joined me for the course, the third colleague having already left Nagoya Station on a slightly earlier Shinkansen. The extra is the Shinkansen that we travelled home on together.
Somewhat perversely, perhaps, I am looking forward to some low level misbehaviour in my classroom tomorrow so that I can practice some of the techniques I have learned.
"What happened?"
"Who do you think was affected?"
"What were you thinking at that time?"
"How do you think they felt?"
"What do you think we could do to resolve this matter?"
"Can we all agree with this plan and move on?"
"Thank you for taking the time to meet and share your thoughts and ideas."
