Time's a healer
I've taken so many photographs of this view: my dad's mantelpiece.
The first time I saw it on our visit this weekend really did hit my sensitive strings.
As many of Countryfile's Blip friends will know, Russell was my dad's dog who...well, lets never say that he still ISN'T dad's dog, but he's now living in the absolutely incredible home of the Morgan family (Lloyd's family).
My dad was diagnosed with two forms of rather aggressive cancer this year, last month in fact, and has really taken quite a shock to his system with the barrage of intense treatment he's been having to face, and sadly poor Russell just couldn't get the attention and activity he always had, with dad now being rather weak and desperately needing to focus all the energy he can on the fight.
Russ had been suddenly passed around between friends but then sent back due to one lady not being able to handle him. We were at a loss, and dad was getting distraught at the thought of him needing to be sent to the RSPCA, where he would never know where his best friend would be.
But then of course, my most fantastic second family stepped in, and have given Russ the most incredible time the past couple of months. We get regular photographs, talk daily (as we would anyway, but we hear added stories of Russell antics), and dad is at ease knowing that his dog is still in the family.
Let's not see this as a sad Blip. It may seem it, but it really shouldn't be.
It's a representation of how strong our two families are.
No...our ONE family IS.
To The Morgan-Moore's!
