Bottle Kilns

As we want to have a day on land at the end of our week we turned on the Caldon and started to head back towards Great Haywood.  At one of the locks I was talking to another boater and he said he had just noticed the bottle kilns he also said he had been up the Caldon a number of times.  The question in my mind is how the "£$%^&*(! did he not notice them before.  The blip was taken from the back of the boat as we passed.

Bottle kilns seem to be mainly found in the potteries.  Stoke still has 50 (IIRC) as listed buildings.  There must have been hundreds in the potteries hay-day.
